CES 2008: Flash SATA drive
At CES 2008-A Taiwanese company has submitted an unusual Data flash drive. At first glance, it is similar to the usual USB, but if Dunno, it is clear that the connector it is different from all the usual USB. The fact is that the drive is connected to a computer interface for SerialATA, and the corresponding connector is used - eSATA specially designed for external drives.
Using SerialATA significantly increase the speed of data transmission - it can be as high as 3 Gb / s to 480 Mbits / s with USB 2.0. But along with increased use of speed SATA raises the issue - the need for external power supply, because the tyre does not transfer energy to the work of the device. Therefore, food gets through the USB device, and to connect to a computer monstruoznogo type cable.
According to Engadget, SATA-drive capacity of 16 or 32 GB. With this amount of the use of more high-speed interface indeed may make sense, although the need for cables and port USB device is not attached to the convenience.
